Exceptional wines grow in the vineyards of the Hagnau winegrowers‘ association. The vines of Baden’s oldest wine cooperative live in comfort:
They grow and crop directly on the sunny slopes of Lake Constance with a view over the water to the foothills of the Swiss Alps and the rock formations of the mountains.
Characteristics of the „Lake Wines“ are their fineness and fresh nature. The grape variety „Müller-Thurgau“ is nowhere as interesting as at Lake Constance. Its wine tastes racy with a delicate fragrant nutmeg flavour and fine fruit aromes.
The Pinot Noir red wines present itself as ruby, velvety-soft with good tannins and a strong character.
A traditional specialty, tasty and elegant: this is the Rosé wine „Spätburgunder Weißherbst“ from Lake Constance.
The Hagnau winegrowers are a strong community that maintains a long vine-growing tradition and has highest demands on quality, care and sustainable management of their vineyards. The Hagnau winegrowers are operating with controlled integrated viticulture since 1993. Eight hectares of vineyard are cultivated according to the guidelines of organic viticulture.
The winegrowers attach great importance to the choice of optimal vineyard locations, good soil and plant management. The grape harvest is done by hand in several runs.
Soils and vines benefit from this labour-intensive cultivation with better root penetration, optimal water balance and nutrient uptake and finally with a high quality of wines.
Selection of best vines from the first shoot to the ripe grape is the challenge of the winegrower families in which the knowledge of wine is passed on from generation to generation.
The majority of the cultivated grape varieties are Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Fungus-resistant grape varieties, such as the red wine variety „Regent“, are part of the trial cultivation. The internationally known Sauvignon Blanc received also a place with lake view in the Hagnau vineyards.
